For businesses

Who we work with.

The mechanism is the same everywhere: somebody decides on Rednote (小红书) where they are going, weeks before they arrive. What differs between industries is only the vocabulary — and how well we can already back the finding for them. That is stated per segment here.

Restaurants

The segment we have the most data for. In September 2026 we analysed, across nine European cities, the five searches Chinese-speaking travellers actually make before going out to eat — 2,193 posts, matched against 53,232 food businesses. In none of those cities do more than 39 businesses appear by name at all; in Vienna it is fourteen.

Readable with method and date: Munich, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Vienna. What it means for a single business is set out on Chinese guests: where they look for your business.

Hotels and accommodation

Same mechanism, different search term: people search for accommodation, location and arrival, not for food. On the publicly visible Rednote topic pages for Vienna and Frankfurt, individual houses are recommended by name — so far almost exclusively international chains and the big names people already know. For an independent house that is the actual news: the category is taken, but not by anyone like you.

To be honest about it: that is an observation from publicly indexed pages (August 2026), not a reading inside the app. The systematic survey we ran for restaurants is still outstanding for hotels. In a first call we will tell you what we know and what we don't.

Ticketed experiences

Wineries with tours, breweries, chocolate and cheese producers, cooking classes, spas, mountain railways, castles. The process is identical to restaurants — the tasting is the dish, the ticket is the table. These businesses are visual by nature, and the cost per creator visit is lower for them than for a restaurant, because a place on a tour exists anyway.

The catch is the season: if you only open from May to October, you have half a year in which posts are found but cannot be acted on.

Retail with researched purchases

Jewellers, watches, opticians, concept stores, heritage brands. "What do you buy in Germany" is researched before the trip, and researched thoroughly.

Here we have to weaken the finding, and we would rather say so now than in a sales conversation: in the posts we read about Frankfurt, streets and chains get named, not individual shops — the Zeil, the Goethestraße, the large drugstore and luxury brands. We did not find a single owner-run shop being recommended there. That is not good news, but it is the situation: the category is free, and free here also means unproven.

Private education providers

Language schools, music and art academies, foundation colleges. Rednote is a central channel through which prospective Chinese students choose a place to study and a provider, and a campus visit works mechanically like a restaurant visit. The conversation is a different one than with a restaurateur — longer decision paths, but year-round and with a budget.

Public universities add procurement law and committees; we start with private providers.

How we find out whether your segment holds

Not through a claim on this page, but through an analysis. It is free and costs us compute, not sales effort: we look at whether anyone searches in your category and your city at all, who is visible there, and whether your business is already being mentioned without you knowing. If the effort isn't worth it for you, we will say so — for the segments further down this page, that is the more likely outcome.
