5 Lisbon restaurants Chinese travellers recommend to each other

24 of Lisbon's 4,064 food businesses appear in the Rednote posts Chinese travellers read before going out to eat. We analysed 159 of those posts, as of 26 September 2026.

People travelling to Lisbon from China have usually planned dinner before the plane lands. Not via Google – barely anyone there uses it – but via Rednote, the app where 300 million people get and share their travel tips.

We read the 159 top-ranked posts about eating in Lisbon and counted how many of the city’s 4,064 food businesses appear in them at all. Twenty-four do, as of 26 September 2026. These five are named more than once.

1. Cervejaria Ramiro

The leader, by a wide margin: fourteen posts, as many as the other four put together. The most-read one is from May 2022, titled simply “Ramiro – Lisbon’s popular seafood restaurant,” and it still holds 1,275 likes. Four years old, still the first result many people see. That’s how Rednote works: a good post keeps working for years.

Prawns, a queue at the door, beer on tap. On Rednote, Ramiro isn’t a restaurant in Lisbon – it’s an appointment.

2. Maria Catita

Seven mentions – and once at rank 2 in the search results, the best placement on the whole list. The post: ”🇵🇹 Lisbon – the Portuguese food you have to eat once in your life.” Only from November 2025 and already at 619 likes. Whoever is climbing this list is climbing it right now.

Rua dos Bacalhoeiros 30

3. O Velho Eurico

The most interesting result of the survey. Only two mentions – but 2,935 likes, more than Ramiro with its fourteen. Practically all of it comes from a single post in January 2026: “Lisbon – hit the ceiling of Portuguese cuisine on day one.”

That’s the sentence you want to hear on Rednote. One post that lands beats twelve that are merely nice.

Largo de São Cristóvão 3

4. Uma Marisqueira

Three mentions, rank 6, and a post that carries its own sales pitch in the title: ”🇵🇹 Lisbon: the seafood rice with 17,000 reviews.” A number people can verify works better on Rednote than any adjective.

Rua dos Sapateiros 177

5. Solar dos Presuntos

Named twice, but with small numbers – the most recent post is from August 2026 and sits at ten likes. The title is still the most confident on the list: ”🇵🇹 The best restaurant in Lisbon.” Whether that sticks will be decided over the coming months.

What stands out

On Rednote, Lisbon is a plate of seafood. Three of the five stand for fish and prawns, and the other two for “Portuguese cuisine” as a whole. Whatever else the city can do doesn’t appear there.

Old beats new. The most-read post on the entire list is from 2022. On Instagram it would be long gone; on Rednote it keeps being found through search. Visibility builds slowly there – and then it holds.

24 out of 4,064. That’s the real number. Ninety-nine percent of Lisbon’s restaurant scene doesn’t appear at all in what Chinese travellers read before their trip.

How we measured this

On 26 September 2026 we analysed five searches Chinese-speaking travellers make before going out to eat: Lisbon guide, Lisbon must-eats, Lisbon food, Lisbon restaurant recommendations, Lisbon seafood restaurant. For each search, the fifty top-ranked posts, 159 distinct ones in total. In those we searched for the names of all 4,064 food businesses OpenStreetMap lists for Lisbon.

What we counted is how often a business is named – that is search visibility, not popularity. A restaurant can be full of Chinese guests and missing here because nobody writes about it. A mention can also be a warning. Rednote’s ranking is personalised: these numbers are one day’s measurement. Names that are also districts or generic words were excluded – a place with “Belém” in its name would otherwise match every post about the neighbourhood.

The same survey for Munich, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome and Vienna.
